Academic Achievers Tour
2018
New York could most definitely be referred to as a concrete jungle… it is an incredibly organized and well planned city. The shops, skyscrapers, blocks, shops and overall setup of the city is commendable. New York is a definite bucket list type city. It’s a city with every possible form of entertainment available.
We as a group we very privileged to have had the chance to explore the city in a few city bus tours as well as being able to shop in Times Square, 5th Avenue and on Liberty Island where we also had a chance to take phenomenal photos and have lunch at the base of the Statue of Liberty.
I was honored to have been given the opportunity to go and experience Chicago, the Broadway show. It was such a treat to watch the beautiful and incredible triple threat dancers, actors and singers perform. The travel & sport tour groups were given an amazing lecture on the topic of Cosmology and Astronomy at Columbia University which I found extremely interesting as it is a topic I have researched in my own time. Our last lecture was about social media and it’s influencers.
The way in which the lecture was set out ensured a relatable and interactive experience.
I had the opportunity to celebrate my 16th birthday in New York which was most enjoyable. New York has a very rich history and it was amazing to visit the American Museum of Natural History.
The 9/11 memorial and museum was honestly so interesting. It brought a depth and realization to me that I never imagined before. The intensity of the information made me quite emotional to be reassured that such tragedy can happen at any unexpected moment anywhere. It made me feel like I should appreciate the little things in life a bit more.
It was a lovely couple days in the vibrant and lively Big Apple. Our tour guides were extremely friendly and I am in awe of their knowledge.
